We wanted to get our Arizona Cypress trees trimmed because they were getting pretty tall as you can see in the picture on the left. We looked in the phone book and found "TREE RITE" tree trimmers and gave them a call. Two young "kids" came out, parked their SUV in OUR driveway and rang the door bell. "We're here to give you an estimate for trimming your Arizona Cypress trees", they said.

Ok we said, and we walked out to the street and looked at the trees. We told them we wanted 6 to 8 feet taken off of the top of the trees. I think that is pretty clear. Shorten them by 6 to 8 feet. I figure that would be about even with the roof top on the house across the street from this perspective. Maybe even a little taller.

So, the next day a crew came out and trimmed our Arizona Cypress trees. As you can see from the picture on the right, their idea of trimming 6 to 8 feet off the top meant something a lot different than our idea. I can't blame the trimming crew because their paper work said to "trim to 6 feet". That's not what we told the "kids" that gave us the estimate.

So, we called TREE RITE and started raising hell. The two "kids" came out and started giving us a bunch of BS. These kids had NO business manners and were just a couple of smart alecks. We decided we needed to talk to the owner of Tree Rite. We finally got in touch with the owner and he said he'd be right over. When he got there we learned his business manners weren't much better than the kids. He tried to BS us and tell us "the trees were only 12 feet tall to begin with so when you cut 6 feet off that's what you get".

Well, the pillar you see at the corner of the block wall is 5 feet tall, so if you do a little Cub Scout calculating you can see the trees were quite a bit taller than 12 feet. And, the picture on the left was taken the year before, so they were even taller than what you see here. More like 20 feet.

So our advice is: If you've got trees that need trimming and you want the job done right, call ANYBODY but TREE RITE.
